A Message from the President


Medlock Southwest Management prides itself on being a pioneer in the Housing community as it was founded in the 1960s when the Medlock Family had the vision to realize that the West Texas area was in a boom period and was experiencing a great need for affordable housing.  Since the Medlock Family was already a successful builder of the original “ready-built house” we began to build, acquire and manage apartment properties through Limited Partnerships, General Partnerships, syndication and conventional financing.


Medlock Southwest Management began in the early days managing HUD and Conventional apartment properties in Texas.  Through the years the knowledge and expertise of the workings and constant regulatory changes in the Department of Housing and Urban Development has been vast. In the early 1990s Medlock Southwest Management entered the USDA Rural Development and Tax Credit property management arena when one of the Medlock entities, Western States Housing Corporation purchased numerous properties.


Medlock Southwest Management Company has grown into an organization that encompasses a full time staff of approximately 91 full time field employees and 8 corporate office personnel. Currently Medlock Southwest Management Company manages 36 apartment properties and 4 commercial properties located in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona.  Our company specializes in the management of Government subsidized and Tax Credit properties dealing with all aspects of a properties’ needs including, but not limited to, the preparations of budgets, audits, full charge bookkeeping duties, REAC inspections, HUD, SHCC, and Rural Development compliance reviews ,  ADA compliance needs, resident complaints and grievance resolution, and overall asset liability protection.  Medlock Southwest Management Corporation has also been instrumental in the development of an approved computer software program that allows interface with the USDA MINC system which allows the transmitting of tenant certifications.


Our Corporate office staff is comprised of highly qualified personnel in occupancy, accounting and compliance standards and they devote their time to ensure a constant high standard in each duty that they undertake.  We also pride ourselves in employee retention, as a large percentage of our staff have worked for the Company 20 plus years.  With the longevity of our employment history comes a vast amount of knowledge and dedication that is rare in the Multi-Family Housing Industry.
